What is the BURC English Learning Hub?

This is a free online space for adult English learners in Belfast. It is made by the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre (BURC). You can learn basic English and use it for everyday life in Northern Ireland.

This hub is for learners at Beginner (A0–A2) level. You can use it at home or in your class.

What can I do?

With our learning hub, you can start by reading short texts and answering simple questions to build your understanding. You’ll watch videos to learn useful new words and listen to English while matching words to pictures, making learning visual and engaging.

You’ll also practise writing short sentences about yourself, your family, and your daily life. To build confidence in speaking, you can send voice messages or join live sessions with others. You’ll learn everyday English for real-life situations, like going to the shops, visiting the GP, or taking the bus. You can learn at your own speed, and if you’d like extra practice, you’re welcome to join friendly classes at BURC.

You don’t need perfect English. Just try your best!
